When the day nears, they arrive. A bottle of the amaro he always orders and never buys. You’ll know which one to send.
What Emberly will not do
- It will not make up a reason.If Emberly doesn’t know something true about her, it says so and shows you the gift plainly. A confident guess dressed as insight is worse than no suggestion at all.
- It will not read her accounts.She never signed up for this and cannot consent to it, so Emberly never touches her social profiles. What it knows comes from you, or from her, if you send her a short question of her own.
- It will not suggest what cannot arrive in time.Every idea is checked against the date before you see it. On the day itself the list gets shorter, and Emberly tells you what fell away and why.
- It will not nag you.One card before each birthday. No streaks, no badges, no daily reminder to engage with your own family.

We have not set the number yet, and we would rather leave it blank than name one we might have to take back. It stays free until your first birthday lands, because a fortnight’s trial would be meaningless for something whose whole job might be five months away. If it wasn’t worth it, don’t pay.

Questions
- Where do the reasons come from?
- From you, mostly. When you add someone, Emberly asks a few short questions about her, and the answers are the raw material. You can also send her a link so she answers a handful herself, which is the only way anything comes from her directly. Emberly never scrapes her accounts.
- What if the ideas are wrong?
- Tell it so. Every idea has a “not quite” next to it, and what you reject is remembered, so the next set is narrower rather than merely different. If Emberly runs out of things it can honestly justify, it says that instead of padding the list.
- Do you sell the gift to me?
- No. Emberly finds the gift, you buy it, and on some we may earn a commission. That is why the reason has to be real: the moment we suggest something because it pays better, the product is worthless and we know it.
- What happens if I miss one anyway?
- Emberly says so plainly and keeps the one door still open, because a day late with the right thing beats on time with nothing. Then it starts telling you earlier next year.
